You can find Daun between Koblenz and Trier. right in the middel of nature, with the forrest, Wildlife, moor and of course his History.

History of daun:
700 v. Christ: The Kelts established them selfs at the Basaltmounten in Daun. Roman excavates confirm that there where also roman guardposts
1000: The castle of “de vrije heren van Daun” is being build.
1075: First citizen of daun has been wrote down: Adalbero de Duna. Later, in 1107, the name is found again in one off the books from the convent Springiersbach.
1163: The sex of “de vrije heren van Daun” is extinct! a servend (Richardus de Duna) does not only takes over the name but also the familyweapon from "vrije heren van Daun”.
This Richardus de Duna is the ancestor from the late count of Daun.
1337 en 1340: Daun is mentioned as a city.
1346: Daun gets his city charter even with marketrights and a court of justice.
1353: The Castle of Daun has been partial destroyed by the monarch of Trier. This was because this castle has become a house of robbery knights.
1689: Frensch troops of Lodewijk the XIV distroyed the castle completely.
1712: The Kur-trierischen Amtshaus has been build on the castle-mountain by the monarch of Trier and archbishop of Karl-Josef. Changed in 1980 in to a hotel.
1904: The sex of count Daun become extinct in 1904.
1911: Emperor Willhelm II comes to Daun to open a spring that the Dauner people had made.
1981: Daun celebrate its 1250th birthday.
