| About the building: | | In the 70th an insurance company "The Provinciaal" had the idea to build an unique complex on this hill. This idea came from the employees and business connections so they could enjoy the beautiful view off the Vulkaaneifel.
In this hotel there was also a swimmingpool and sauna. There are still guests that have good memories about this time. After 30 years the Provinciaal sold the complex to another company called "Kolping corporation".
This corporation first closed the swimmingpool with lavastones, and also closed down the sauna. These facilities where to expensive that they had to close this.
But despite the taken measures they still lost lots off money so the corporation had to sell the building again. As we all know, selling a building would not done quick, it took about 4 years before we saw the complex our selfs, and for four years it was not being used. |

About us:
Untill february 2005 we lived just a normal life with two kids,
two dogs and a butcher's shop.
One day a good friend (and still is) who would like to live in the eifel very much, came to us and showed pictures off this hotel.
"Tom, is this not something for you ?
you could make this in to a hotel or something, he mentioned.
Never thought about starting a hotel, but curious in january 2005 we whent to germany. Never been in the Vulkaaneifel or ever heared about it.
| When we arrived we where very enthusiastic about the building but more about the location. Its Unique !! Something we would go for holidays our self. More details we spare you, but in this period all did change drastically;
Selling our house, leaving our trusted environment, meeting new people, new rules.... a whole new live.
In 6 weeks, we renovated the complex, exclusive the restaurant. May 30th 2005 the first guests arrived: Nelson Piquet with the Piquet Sport team, then called the GP2.
This team came to us because they where because off the Formula 1 at the Nürburgring.
We where very pride getting al those compliments. It was the beginning......(we thought) it was not!!
|  |  | After the formula 1 we sat by the fireplace hoping guests would come. Day after day no guests where coming, what where we thinking ?
No publicity, never been in a hotel and in may everyone already made
there bookings.... it was a very difficult time. But luckily at the end it all started to come, we did everything together:
Breakfast, rooms, bar, cooking, adminstration but also a lot off laughter !
The more bookings we received the Team grow also.
In october 2005 we could finisch the restaurant and using it. The intention was not only to make the guests at home, but also the local people.
| | | This could not succeed without a good cooking chef and since then "our" Dino has joined the team. Lots off swet and tears when we found out that the restaurant was getting smaller so in january 2008 we decided to renovate and extend the excisting restaurant. Part off the outside terrace has been used, also an entrance to the breakfast room has been created.
We can now have about 140 people in our restaurant.
Weddings, company parties, etc... are being held with us (luckily).
We have (in our opinion) a special team where we are proude off. Without this team we should not have been grown like we have now, we are aware off that.
Together we work not only as a team, but as a family.
